An amazing group of fantastic students with brilliant skills and an enthusiastic outlook! We are a Special Needs Secondary school in Stockton. We have 4 companies currently operating in our Upper School. PT Sparx, KB Katz, SB Superstarz and the 15 Honey Bees. PT Sparx are a group of Year 11 Students who have specialised this year in Card Making, Jewellery Making and more recently planning the first ever Abbey Hill Summer Leaving Prom. KB Katz are a group of Year 11 Students who have specialised in Card Making this year. This group also ran a successful whole school Halloween cake sale. SB Superstarz are a group of Year 10 students who have been working on repackaging products to sell. This group also ran an excellent whole school Easter competition. The 15 Honey Bees are a group of Year 10 students who have been working with a professional bee keeper to maintain our on site hives. The bee related products that are currently on sale include borage and flower honey, beeswax candles, beeswax decorations, and more recently honey fudge! Baddow Enterprise club runs on Thursdays and is the perfect place for encouraging and building business skills, whilst making some money!

25 students from year 7 to year 12 take part in this thriving new enterprise club. Sixth Formers help to lead the club through an executive team, and students are working in small groups to develop a variety of ideas. Year 10 students in the club are currently working on a slim-line printer, whist another group are looking at ways to encourage fellow teenagers to save the planet.

In National Enterprise Week 2005, we began forging strong links with local businesses and community through talks and breakfasts. We were involved with Outposts Ltd and a number of other Somerset schools in developing a project which will see a party of 20 Somerset students traveling to Peru in 2007. We were putting together this team of yr 10 students to engage in community and commercial activities to raise money and awareness of the plight of street children living around the ancient capital of Peru, Cuzzo. We set up Taunton Enterprise Network with 5 other local schools St. Augustine’s, Ladymead, Castle, Heathfield, Courtsfield and Kingsmead. We were able to share good practice and reconfirm our desire to work together in delivering high quality enterprise education to the students in Taunton. We have lots of internal Enterprise Challenges including Conference Day Programme, Enterprise in Action, Project Business, Playing for Success, Masterclass, Rapid Response Challenge, Work Skills, Entrepreneur Skills, Going for Profit. We were given the Project Business Award 2005 & 2006 for Somerset for all our efforts to promote enterprise. We have a young enterprise group who make goods and sell them.

We have a number of small scale student led enterprises including a Fair Trade outlet, a Stationery Shop and we’re into recycling.

We have 2 clubs and one new one starting up. We participated in the Alnwick Gardens Enterprise Day and the John Muir Award Environmental Challenge. We also fundraise for anti-bullying and Children in Need.

At Higham Lane School we have established five student-run businessess. During Enterprise Week 2006 we generated ideas through a school-wide speednetworking session. Over 1000 students were involved in the speednetworking and the best ideas that came out of the activity were used as the basis for these businesses
