    Purple Banana

We are a group of year ten students who have formed an enterprise group called “Purple Banana”. We have received funding from the school and so far have done a Christmas fair, from which we were able to fund further enterprise projects. This has then allowed us to do our next project of selling homemade toiletries to the pupils of our school for Mother’s Day. We have now got together with the music department, for whom we are going to design and create a CD cover. The CD cover will then be used for the music the year 7 choir have composed and sung. Through our help with this enterprise project they will then be able to go on and sell their CD and enter further competitions.

    MYM @ Staindrop

Staindrop’s Make Your Mark Club is an enterprise group where the students are the real decision makers! Members from all years meet every Tuesday for a working lunch. Ran by students for students, their long-term project is a permanent outlet for small businesses within school including a stationery shop and a fair trade shop. The club is consulting architects as well as other specialists to amalgamate their ideas and make them happen. Other enterprising activity is on the horizon for Staindrop with the Mandarin Chinese classes after school, with a view to visit China in the autumn to study their business and education systems. Recently, the Geography department Make Your Markers have set up notice boards for every department to display how each department is being enterprising in it’s current activities. enterprise can be part of every subject: it’s a way of life!
