Make Your Mark Clubs are often running events in their schools and local communities - can anyone suggest good ways of getting free publicity?

Liam Young of Young Expert Ltd (a PR & Marketing company) has kindly offered the following advice:
I could help with this - there is a number of ways you could do this; - You need to be benefiting the children within that school somehow, giving them new skills or opportunities in comparison to other schools - meaning local press find this of interest. - You could have a celebrity or well known individual come in and get involved with an activity, or just do a little talk to everyone - local & possibly national press dependent on the celebrity & activities. - You could donate to charity giving local press their typical community-like stories. - Or, have the day dedicated to something… make it stand out & very unique. If you tell me a little more about the event(s) you plan to run & where, I could help you get some press attention.

Have you contacted your local Make Your Mark office? They may be able to put something on the BLOG for you. You may also want to get local businesses involved. On our connect website http://www.makeyourmarkconnect.org/ you’ll find details of networks you might want to pop along to. You could meet business people who might want to get involved with your events. Businesses often have links with the press. Best of luck! Julie, Make Your Mark (North East)
