Do you know any good sources of funding!

We have an extremely small budget but big ideas! We’ve seen some good ways of making money in the resources but wonder if any of you have any special budgets you can tap into.

    Hi,

One of our members needed funding for an idea he was pursuing. He wrote to 40 local small businesses, explaining what he was doing and asking if they would sponsor him £20. He had a reply from 5 out of the 40, but many were more generous than the £20 and gave much more. He ended up with over £200.

We have found that local businesses love to support young people and encourage them. Why not give it a try? You could even get yourselves into the local paper and some funding may come that way too.

    Have fun,

    Ruth

Hi, If your project is an enterprise that could help other young people or your local community, you might be able to get some lottery funding towards it. Awards for All offer grants of £300+ and schools are eligible to apply for funding: www.awardsforall.org.uk

Alternatively, if you’re after some quick cash and you have an excellent idea, try submitting it to School Think. They offer £20-£200 each month to schools who can offer great ideas or innovative tips. www.schoolthink.co.uk

The money is offered by Reed Foundation and Reed Education who are great supporters of enterprise and who want to encourage schools to develop creative ideas.

Also don’t forget that there will be a chance to win £50 from the MYM Club each term through an exclusive competition. The last winners were Birkdale School in Sheffield. Watch out for the next competition on this term’s newsletter - coming out at the beginning of February.

Good luck with your new club! Catherine
